The course

The 116 km Esperto course of Nanaimo Unpaved, a gravel loop on the forest roads west of Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island.

Nanaimo Unpaved kicks off the BC Gravel Series on Sunday, March 21, 2027. The Esperto loop starts in the forest west of Nanaimo on the 155 Main forest road, then climbs into the Arrowsmith-Benson area — the main climb, about 385 metres between km 19 and km 30, leads toward the highest point of the course, at 743 metres. It then follows 142 Main, crosses the forests of the Lantzville and Nanoose Bay areas before returning to the start. This is the exact route plotted here — every turn at its precise intersection.

Why This Ride

Nanaimo Unpaved is Vancouver Island coastal gravel: forest roads, rugged climbs and fast gravel. Here, it's the Esperto, the big 116 km loop. Your race, preserved in ink, one line at a time.

Make the Achievement Yours

Add a name, finish time or short dedication to turn the artwork into a personal record of the work behind the medal. Personalization is optional; leave the field blank for the original composition.

How It Is Made

The composition, hierarchy and final linework are directed by a person. A pen plotter then draws the artwork physically, line by line, with ink on paper. Small production variations can occur during physical plotting.

Plotted by a robot. Designed by a person.
