The course

The 2024 Tour of Flanders course, 271 km from Antwerp to Oudenaarde over the cobbled hills of the Flemish Ardennes — De Ronde, a Monument of cycling.

This is the course of the 2024 edition. It leaves Antwerp and heads southwest for about a hundred flat kilometres, then enters the Flemish Ardennes, in southern East Flanders, for a succession of short, steep hills, many of them cobbled, linked in loops around Oudenaarde. The Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg, climbed twice in the final circuit, most often decide the race. The highest point is at 145 metres and the main climb, about 131 metres, comes between km 127 and km 138. Finish in Oudenaarde. This is the exact route plotted here — every turn at its precise intersection.

The History

A race for all of Flanders, in 1913

The Tour of Flanders was created in 1913 by Léon van den Haute, co-founder of the sports paper Sportwereld, and its editor Karel Van Wijnendaele. The idea: a race run entirely on Flemish soil, crossing as many towns as possible. The first edition, on 25 May 1913, started in Ghent and covered 330 kilometres on bad roads; Paul Deman won the sprint after more than 12 hours in the saddle.

The longest unbroken run

The race was interrupted only during the First World War and has been held every year since 1919 — the longest continuous run of any classic. By the 1930s the crowds were so big that De Ronde had become a true popular festival in Flanders.

The hills, the Muur and the Koppenberg

To keep its character, organizers added hills and back roads in the Flemish Ardennes. In 1973 the finish moved to Meerbeke, just after the Muur of Geraardsbergen; the Koppenberg, cobbled and up to 22% in places, joined the route three years later.

Oudenaarde, the Kwaremont and the Paterberg

Since 2012 the finish has been in Oudenaarde, after three loops in the Flemish Ardennes. Since 2017 the start has been in Antwerp. The Oude Kwaremont — 2.2 km of cobbles — and the Paterberg, climbed twice late in the race, have become the decisive points. The record is three wins, shared by eight riders, including Johan Museeuw, Tom Boonen and Fabian Cancellara.

Why This Ride

The Tour of Flanders is De Ronde: cobbled hills, wind, crowds lining the road, and the Oude Kwaremont then the Paterberg to finish it off. Here, it's the 2024 course, Antwerp to Oudenaarde. Your ride, preserved in ink, one line at a time.

Make the Achievement Yours

Add a name, finish time or short dedication to turn the artwork into a personal record of the work behind the medal. Personalization is optional; leave the field blank for the original composition.

How It Is Made

The composition, hierarchy and final linework are directed by a person. A pen plotter then draws the artwork physically, line by line, with ink on paper. Small production variations can occur during physical plotting.

Plotted by a robot. Designed by a person.
