The course

The 122 km Esperto course of What De Fuca!, a gravel loop from Camp Barnard in Sooke on the forest roads of Juan de Fuca.

What De Fuca!, the third stop of the BC Gravel Series, runs on Sunday, May 23, 2027. The start is at Camp Barnard on Young Lake Road in Sooke, British Columbia. The Esperto loop heads out on Butler Main and Boneyard Main, then climbs West Leech Main — the main climb, about 590 metres between km 16 and km 27, on Valentine Main, leads toward the highest point of the course, at 792 metres. It continues on West Jordan Main and Koksilah Main to the forest roads south of Cowichan Lake, comes back on Todd Main and West Jordan Main, then drops down Butler Main to Camp Barnard. Lots of climbing, very fast descents. This is the exact route plotted here — every turn at its precise intersection.

Why This Ride

What De Fuca! is South Vancouver Island gravel: lots of climbing, wild descents and forest roads as far as you can see. Here, it's the Esperto, the big 122 km loop. Your race, preserved in ink, one line at a time.

Make the Achievement Yours

Add a name, finish time or short dedication to turn the artwork into a personal record of the work behind the medal. Personalization is optional; leave the field blank for the original composition.

How It Is Made

The composition, hierarchy and final linework are directed by a person. A pen plotter then draws the artwork physically, line by line, with ink on paper. Small production variations can occur during physical plotting.

Plotted by a robot. Designed by a person.
