A technical plan of the Jaime I, drawn line by line in pen on 250gsm paper, at 11 x 17 in. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. On the back, a serial number and date, plotted in UV ink in the same pass as the drawing.
The Jaime I's silhouette exists in file form everywhere. What doesn't exist everywhere is a single copy you can point to and say who drew it, where, on what day, under what number.
The Jaime I was one of three España-class battleships built for Spain, and the only one still afloat when the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936 — it stayed loyal to the Republic, its guns reportedly enough to keep the conservative city of Santander from joining the uprising. Over the following year it bombarded rebel-held ports and was hit repeatedly, including by Condor Legion seaplanes near Almería in May 1937. A month later, on June 17, 1937, an internal explosion during repair work at Cartagena destroyed the ship and killed roughly 300 crew — one of the deadliest naval disasters of the war.

Each piece is physically plotted by the studio's precision robot in Québec City, using Stabilo® Fineliners and Sakura® Gelly Roll inks on 250 gsm (120 lb) stock — stroke by stroke, never printed. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. The result is a tactile, hand-plotted finish — never printed.
