A technical plan of the USS Montana, drawn line by line in pen on 250gsm paper, at 11 x 17 in. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. On the back, a serial number and date, plotted in UV ink in the same pass as the drawing.
The Montana's silhouette exists in file form everywhere. What doesn't exist everywhere is a single copy you can point to and say who drew it, where, on what day, under what number.
The Montana class was meant to be the ultimate American battleship — the first US design freed from the Panama Canal's size limits, with thicker armor and more main guns (twelve 16-inch, against the Iowa class's nine) than any battleship the US Navy had ever built. Authorized in July 1940, it never got the chance to prove it: after carrier warfare decided the Battle of Midway, all five planned ships were cancelled in 1943 without a single hull ever laid down. The Montana exists only on paper.

Each piece is physically plotted by the studio's precision robot in Québec City, using Stabilo® Fineliners and Sakura® Gelly Roll inks on 250 gsm (120 lb) stock — stroke by stroke, never printed. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. The result is a tactile, hand-plotted finish — never printed.
