A technical plan of the Volvo EC700CL, drawn line by line in pen on 250gsm paper, at 11 x 17 in. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. On the back, a serial number and date, plotted in UV ink in the same pass as the drawing.
The EC700CL's silhouette exists in file form everywhere. What doesn't exist everywhere is a single copy you can point to and say who drew it, where, on what day, under what number.
The Volvo EC700CL is a large hydraulic excavator built for mass excavation and mine loading, engineered around what Volvo calls 'perfectly harmonized hydraulics' to handle the toughest materials without losing precision. Depending on boom and arm configuration, it can dig as deep as 10.06 meters and reach nearly 14.78 meters, all powered by a 346 kW Volvo D16E diesel. Fully equipped, it weighs up to 71.7 tonnes — one of the heaviest excavators in Volvo's lineup.

Each piece is physically plotted by the studio's precision robot in Québec City, using Stabilo® Fineliners and Sakura® Gelly Roll inks on 250 gsm (120 lb) stock — stroke by stroke, never printed. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. The result is a tactile, hand-plotted finish — never printed.
