A technical plan of the Aston Martin DBR1, drawn in pen, line by line, on 250 g/m² paper, 11 x 17 in (27.9 x 43.2 cm). A physical nib presses into the paper and lays down real ink, stroke after stroke.
The DBR1 exists as a photo and a spec sheet, everywhere — a drawing anyone can call up on a screen. What doesn't exist everywhere is a copy that can say who traced it, where, and under what serial number.
The Aston Martin DBR1 is a sports racing car built by Aston Martin in the United Kingdom starting in 1956 — only five chassis were ever completed (DBR1/1 through DBR1/5), built for the World Sportscar Championship and endurance racing. Its multi-tubular space-frame chassis carries an Aston Martin straight-six offered in 2.5 L and 3.0 L displacements, the larger producing 186 kW (250 hp) through a David Brown CG537 5-speed manual gearbox. In 1959, chassis DBR1/2, driven by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright — the only overall Le Mans victory Aston Martin has ever taken, finishing 25 laps ahead of the next competitor. At just 801 kg (1,765 lb), it measures 4.03 m (13.2 ft) long, 1.63 m (5.3 ft) wide, and 0.98 m (3.2 ft) tall.

Each piece is physically plotted by the studio's precision robot in Québec City, using Stabilo® Fineliners and Sakura® Gelly Roll inks on 250 gsm (120 lb) stock — stroke by stroke, never printed. A physical tip presses into the paper and lays down real ink. The result is a tactile, hand-plotted finish — never printed.
